Meet Your Hosts

Johnny O & Amy Kay

Johnny O and Amy Kay are born fun-seekers and want to make sure your stay at Akehurst Resort is truly an O-Kay experience!

After many years of the resort being used privately among a group of friends, Johnny and Amy are ready to open it up to share with folks looking for a remote, off-grid getaway.

With a lifetime of experience and love for the outdoors, we are looking forward to inviting friends, old and new, to bring new life to this delightfully rustic resort.

We are surrounded by lakes with excellent trout fishing. There are also endless trails and forest service roads for exploring between lakes.

In Akehurst’s early days, sometime back in the 60’s, Akehurst Resort was a popular fly-in fishing camp.  Each log cabin, as well as the day-lodge, were constructed by hand from surrounding trees.

The cabins are single-room sleeping quarters with a woodstove, eating area and porch.  The 2 stall outhouse is shared among the cabins and the day-lodge offers a kitchen with large propane stove & oven, plenty of prep space, as well as a large dining table.  There is a large BBQ on the deck for use.

Aside from a small trapper’s cabin at the opposite end, Akehurst Resort is the sole occupant of the lake.  Fly-ins are still welcome, but ground access to the resort is restricted to ATV, snowmobile, or by foot.

We have fishing boats available for rent, as well as small gas motors.  Bring your own gas or electric motor if you like, and feel free to bring your own boat, but please be aware that there is no vehicle boat launch, so boats must be put in by hand.
